INTRAOPERATIVE MRI & SURGERY SUITE RENOVATION 
DELL CHILDRENS MEDICAL CENTER

CM Constructors completed the renovation of a new intraoperative MRI (IMRI) suite at Dell Children’s Medical Center—one of only 70 in the country and Ascension’s second nationwide. The project includes a surgery suite directly connected to the IMRI room, allowing patients to move seamlessly between imaging and surgery without leaving the sterile field.

Construction within the active hospital required detailed phasing, infection prevention measures, and close coordination with hospital operations. The scope involved intense structural steel work, including large support beams running the length of both rooms to support overhead equipment and maintain critical clearances. The IMRI room was fully copper-lined and encased in stainless steel to meet stringent shielding and hygiene requirements, along with complex MEP upgrades to power and cool the specialized equipment.
